Online Speech Therapy

Thursday, 09 March 2017 by Asanda Mxi

We all know that life can get very busy.  A demanding job, deadlines, traffic, homework assignments, personal commitments, meetings upon meetings, the list is endless. And for many, it is a constant race against the clock. It was with this in mind and our constant endeavor to break new grounds in the Speech Therapy industry, that we’ve decided to launch our Online Speech Therapy Service.

How does it work?

The therapist will conduct the online session with you the client via Skype. Therapy materials are managed via the computer screen and can be seen by both the client and the therapist simultaneously. Any additional materials and homework programs can be emailed. Therapy activities will generally be the same as those delivered in the face-to-face environment.

You will need

  • A computer, I pad or smart phone.
  • A good Internet connection
  • Headphones (preferable) or speakers and a microphone (which is often already fitted on your computer).
  • A webcam is not essential, but may be helpful in some cases.

Why go online?

There are a number of benefits to receiving therapy in this manner. The biggest advantage would definitely be the flexibility. You are not tied down to specific days or times. So you could essentially arrange your sessions around your schedule. However, please keep in mind that bookings for online sessions will need to be made at least one week in advance.

Next up, without a doubt would be convenience. There is no travel time or travel cost involved. Services take place in the convenience of your own home or office. You might also benefit from the online service, if you missed your face-to-face session, but would still like to keep the momentum going with your therapy program.
